In refreshing break from what could be called “piano trap” that has permeated the Philly scene as of recent, Mir220 stammers onto the scene with some 80s vibes in his visual for “Habitat,” shot by the legend in the making, Marlissa Monay. Now this was not Mir’s first visual to hit Monay’s page, with 3 videos preceding the “Habitat” visual, accumulating over 350K views, Mir has found a groove on the page and has recently released yet another visual for “When I Need Love.”
Mir’s flow and inflection is something that immediately becomes apparent. The constant floating between a “normal” flow and what feels like an attempt to contain the channeled spirit of Thugger Thugger. On first listen, the vocals affront your ears, leaving you disheveled and holding onto your hat (or beanie, if you in that kinda mood). By the third listen, you feel like you’ve gained access to a secret club that strictly bops. By the 40th listen, your finding yourself involuntary take part in the shouts and bursts of energy that Mir sows throughout the track.
It’s going to be interesting to see where Mir takes his style, coupled with the selection of beats (PRODUCERS, GET YOUR BEATS READY).
